Reporting into the Director of Place, you will be responsible for driving and enabling further economic growth, inward investment, business retention and diversification across Thurrock as well as setting and delivering a clear strategy for High House Production Park (HHPP). To do this effectively you will need a strong track record in partnership working as you will work closely with HHPP Board, businesses and wider partners including Arts Council England, SELEP, OSE and the Thames Estuary Board.

You will be a qualified Planner with a track record in developing effective partnerships with the public, private, voluntary and community sectors to ensure we successfully deliver services which are sensitive to local concerns and aspirations while aligning with the strategic objectives of the Council.

Assistant Director Children’s Social Care and Early Help
Salary up to £104,000 per annum

At Thurrock our Children’s Services have recently been given a GOOD outcome in the ILACs November 2019, but we are ambitious to continue our improvement journey and build on our recent success. We are looking to recruit to this key position in Children’s Services which will play a vital role in delivering our ambitious agenda. Ofsted recently graded our services as Good across all areas and whilst this provides strong foundations to build upon, we cannot afford to be complacent. We still face major challenges around the SEND agenda, as well as deprivation and child exploitation, and are absolutely committed to further improving the life chances of everyone in our communities.

A qualified social worker, you will have responsibility for the whole range of Children’s Social Care; Safeguarding, Children Looked After, Quality Assurance, YOS and Prevention services. Reporting to the Corporate Director of Children’s Services, you will join a strong and determined leadership team and have the full support of the DCS, Chief Executive and senior politicians. You will also help to continue to strengthen our relationships with key partners across the health, police and social care landscape.

A senior practice leader in Children’s social care, you will have a proven track record of delivering improved outcomes and will know what good and outstanding services look like. You will have grit, personal resilience and, above all, an unwavering determination and passion for delivering the best for children.
